We are delighted to share that our new eduLAB facilities at TU Wien have officially been opened! Together with Federal Minister of Education Christoph Wiederkehr, Rector Jens Schneider, Dean of Informatics Gerti Kappel, and many guests from academia and practice, we celebrated this important milestone at our new location at Favoritenstraße 9-11.
The eduLAB is an innovative learning space where children and young people can experience, understand, and actively shape computer science—free of charge and without prior knowledge. In a world increasingly shaped by artificial intelligence and digital technologies, we want to offer a place where curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking about computer science can flourish.
During the opening, inspiring words were shared: Minister Wiederkehr highlighted the importance of engaging with informatics early on, Rector Schneider emphasized the creative and responsible use of technology, and Professor Tobias Kohn demystified the black box of learning computer science.
For us, the eduLAB team, this opening marks another important step in our journey. Since our start in 2019, we have been growing from a pilot project with the interactive “Abenteuer Informatik” exhibition into a recognized hub for digital education. With our new, purpose-built rooms, we now have even more space to welcome school classes, host workshops, and develop educational projects.
We are excited to continue our mission: to spark curiosity, foster creativity, and empower young people to shape the digital world of tomorrow.
If you are curious, come visit us at Favoritenstraße and join us in exploring the world of computer science!
