The LTeD Research Lab was actively represented at this year’s DELFI 2025, hosted at TU Bergakademie Freiberg. From September 8th to September 10th, René Röpke attended the conference and contributed together with his collaborators to the conference program.
On Monday, September 8th, in his role as a deputy speaker of the Open Science working group in Special Interest Group (SIG) on Educational Technologies of the German Informatics Society (GI e.V.), René Röpke hosted the third workshop and invited participants to take the perspectives of psychology and computer science, discuss the interdisciplinarity in EdTech research and its implications for open science. Invited talks by Dr. Henrik Bellhäuser (JGU Mainz) and Prof. Dr. Sven Strickroth (LMU Munich) gave plenty to discuss and engage in exciting exchange with the participants. A workshop report on the results will be published in the workshop proceedings later this year. For more information checkout the workshop webpage.
During the main conference program on Tuesday and Wednesday, two papers were presented. Together with Marie Trippel (RWTH Aachen University), René Röpke and her jointly presented their short paper with the title “Developing a Graph-based Visualization of Elective Courses to Support Course Selection in Higher Education”. It was nominated for the Best Short Paper Award and highly valued by reviewers in the double-blinded review process. Check out the paper here: https://doi.org/10.18420/delfi2025_09
In an interactive demo session, the collaborative learning game “Pack a Capsule”, a game on network communication with a focus on transport layer protocols was presented and David Baberowski (TU Dresden) and Thiemo Leonhardt (RWTH Aachen University) invited participants to try it out and engage in discussions. The collaboration together with Sila Irmak (RWTH Aachen University) took part in the competition for the Best Demo Award. Check out the paper here: https://doi.org/10.18420/delfi2025_42
Overall, DELFI 2025 was a huge success and enabled plenty of exchange and networking with the EdTech community. The LTeD Research Lab is looking forward to next years conference in Potsdam, Germany.
