Beginning in March, the LTeD Research Lab offers new courses to students of the Faculty of Informatics at TU Wien.
Every semester, we offer the course “Informatics Didactics” (Didaktik in der Informatik, Abenteuer Informatik), a hands-on introduction to computer science education and didactics. In this course, students learn about the educational offerings in the context of the TU Wien Informatics eduLAB and how we implement Computer Science Unplugged methodology in our task design. Students first observe different workshops before they receive the opportunity to design their own task and test it with students to gather valuable feedback. Check TISS for more information.
In the new course “Seminar in Learning Technologies”, Master students approach scientific literature on research trends in learning technologies. For the upcoming semester, the seminar focuses on Learning Analytics and offers a wide variety of topics for students to choose from. This course builds strongly on self-study with regular submissions and feedback meetings, and ends in mini conference with paper submissions, peer reviews and scientific presentation sessions. Check TISS for more information.
For students in the Informatics Bachelors program, the LTeD Research Lab also offers a group in the course “Scientific Research and Writing” (Wissenschaftliches Arbeiten). Students interested in learning technologies and computer science education may register in the group 194-01 and come to the kickoff meeting for personal registration. Interesting topics ranging from modern learning technologies to innovative approaches in computer science education will be offered. The goal of the course is to learn how to read, summarize and analyze scientific literature, write a short paper and present work in a scientific presentation. This course is the perfect preparation for Bachelor thesis projects afterwards! Check TISS for more information.
Beyond these three courses, the LTeD Research Lab offers software projects (for the module “Project in Computer Science 1/2”) as well as Bachelor and Master thesis projects. Just contact us, if you are interested on a topic in the realm of learning technologies and computer science education.
