JTEL Summer School in Bulgaria

From May 16th to 24th, 2026, Selina Reinhard and Sonja Klein attended the JTEL Summer School 2026 (JTELSS26), organized by the European Association of Technology-Enhanced Learning (EA-TEL). Around 100 researchers, including 60 PhD candidates from across Europe gathered in Sunny Beach, Burgas, Bulgaria, to discuss current challenges and opportunities in Technology-Enhanced Learning (TEL).

Throughout the week, participants attended keynote presentations and workshops covering a wide range of TEL research topics, including AI tools in research, research methods such as co-design and design-based research, selecting appropriate measurement instruments, serious games, and explainable AI. In addition to the academic program, the summer school fostered networking and collaboration among participants through group discussions, social activities, and mentoring sessions with experienced researchers. These interactions created an inspiring environment for sharing experiences, exploring future research directions, and strengthening professional networks within the TEL community.

The JTEL Summer School 2026 offered an enriching experience that combined academic learning, interdisciplinary exchange, and community building, with nice breaks at the beach, making it a memorable highlight of the year.
