Milestone achieved: On March 23rd, 2026, Martina Landman successfully defended her doctoral dissertation and completed her PhD journey as the first doctoral graduate of our group (officially supervised by Prof. Dr. Tobias Kohn).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In her dissertation, \u201cAlgorithmic Problem Solving in Unplugged Computer Science Outreach Activities,\u201d<\/em> she delivers a focused and impactful contribution at the intersection of CS education, outreach and learning design. Her work uses qualitative research methods and advances our understanding of how algorithmic thinking can be fostered with collaborative sorting activities using self-designed playing cards and 3D printed cubes and scales. As soon as the work is published, the link will be added here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Martina presented her research with clarity and confidence, convincingly engaging both the examination committee and the audience. The defense was not only technically strong but also a clear signal of her academic maturity and ownership of the topic. Besides Tobias Kohn (KIT, Germany), the examination committee was chaired by TU Wien colleague Peter Puschner and included the international examiners Tim Bell (University of Canterbury), Arnold Pears (KTH, Sweden) and Jacqueline Staub (University of Trier, Germany).<\/p>\n\n\n\n Congratulations, Dr. Martina Landman!
